Presidency

Events | 30 June 2011 Welcome introduction from the Minister

To all visitors to this website I extend the warmest of welcomes and urge you to follow here the progress of the Polish Presidency in the fields of science and higher education.

The full programme of conferences and events will be both announced and reported here, and there will also be interviews with some very distinguished visitors, as well as news of exciting achievements from research centres and universities. So do please visit regularly.

In a time when the world is actively facing up to such serious challenges - social and economic, climatic, and demographic – all of which have science-based solutions, it is gratifying that Europe is deeply engaged in so many fields of scientific endeavour.  Inspired by our common heritage of creative science, from Copernicus and Kepler to Einstein and Hawkings, we all can be proud of the exciting work being done by a new generation of innovative researchers working at the cutting edge of science.

Worldwide recognition is now received regularly for the high level of EU students, scientists and teachers, which is leading to an ever-increasing number of international partnerships which offer great promise of advances which will offer improved wellbeing for both society and the planet itself.

Throughout the Polish Presidency there will be discussion and debate of interest to so many people, and I hope that you will be able to follow these on this site during the rest of 2011.
